About the Therapist

When I was 17 years old, I had a defining moment where I knew that I wanted to become an art therapist. After pursuing my undergraduate degree in preparation for this calling, destiny had its own plan, and my path led me to travel, motherhood, and almost two decades of teaching art. In 2022, the Kairos Institute inaugurated its program, and I enrolled in the first cohort of this pioneering anthroposophic art therapy education in North America.

My own life story has been just as much a preparation for becoming a therapist as my manyfold trainings. Through life's trials, traumas and inner growth, I have experienced a deep healing journey in body, mind and soul myself. Art played a vital and life-saving role on my path, inspiring me to share this amazing gift with others.

I feel honoured and privileged to accompany people of all walks of life on their healing journey by guiding them through the artistic process.

About my Practice

In 2026, I completed a 4-year Art Therapy training at the Kairos Institute, Center for Anthroposophy, NH. I have worked with children and adults since 2022 and have over 900 clinically supervised hours of practice. I continue working with seasoned mentors in the field and attend ongoing training and education to deepen my understanding of Anthroposophic medicine and artistic therapies.

The Kairos training is rooted in extensive trauma work, and my experiences span over a vast range of chronic and acute conditions and pathologies, including depression, anxiety, grief, eating disorders, abuse, autism, PTSD and more.

I also have a level 1 certificiate in Psychedelics and Art Therapy from the Kutenay Art Therapy Institute.

about the approach

What is Anthroposophic Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a holistic, therapeutic approach rooted in the spiritual-scientific philosophy of Anthroposophy, developed by Rudolf Steiner in the early 20th century. This therapy integrates visual arts—such as painting, drawing, and sculpting—with a focus on stimulating self-healing and personal development. It views the human being as a unity of body, soul, and spirit, and seeks to restore balance across these dimensions.

In anthroposophic art therapy, the creative process is more important than the final artwork. The therapist guides individuals through artistic exercises tailored to their unique emotional, psychological, or physical conditions. The choice of colours, forms, and techniques is intentional and can have specific therapeutic effects.

Therapeutic art is applied in diverse settings, from hospitals and rehabilitation centers to schools and private practices, supporting people with chronic illnesses, developmental disorders, trauma, or those simply seeking personal growth.

At its core, anthroposophic art therapy aims to awaken the individual’s inner creative forces, fostering a sense of harmony, resilience, and well-being to allow healing to happen.

Who is it for?

Anthroposophic Therapeutic Arts supports people of all ages to find ways of dealing with life’s challenges.  They are complementary art therapies based on the understanding of the human being of body soul and spirit.

Artistic activity expands our awareness, helps us to discover new directions, and connect with our inner resources.

What do sessions look like?

One cycle of therapeutic painting consists of 9-12 sessions, held at least once a week. It's imperative to the process that the person coming for treatment can attend consistently and for the full cycle of sessions.

Individual sessions may vary in length depending on the process needed that day. At the beginning of a cycle, we agree on the session length, and the rate includes any additional time when needed.

The beauty of art therapy is that there is no need for talking. You arrive in a warm and welcoming space, free of judgment and expectations, to freely flow into the artistic process.

What mediums are used?

With children, I primarily work with watercolours and clay. With adults, charcoal and pastels are used, in addition to watercolours and clay. All sessions are personalized to the client, their unique needs and preferences and what might support them the best at the time.

Locations

Sessions are currently offered at two London locations: The London Waldorf School (7 Beaufort Street) as well as my home studio in the north-west of the city located at 88 Concord Crescent.

testimonials

"When we came to Berit, our son was in the midst of a very hard time. It was tricky to know where to turn. Having Berit share her considerable compassionate care with our son brought so much light and insight to our situation. It is so stressful to have your child struggle. Having Berit on his team during their work together felt like such a relief and so supportive. What a gift."

-V.P

"Thank you so much for your work with my son. It has helped him immensely. I am grateful to have had this opportunity for him and hope that he will have the chance to work with you again in the future. I know that any child working with you will thrive!"

-A.M.

"My son was really struggling with grief and the feelings that come with the nine-year change. There was so much sadness that he couldn't express. Through his therapeutic painting with Berit, he was finally able to express his grief and experience a release of almost a year of suppressing his sadness.  There is now a lightness in his steps and a happiness and joy that was missing for a long while."
